Juggling June

June is always a full month for us...with our anniversary and Kelsey's birthday (not to mention my beautiful sister Danielle's birthday - who shares her birthday with our anniversary) we have lots on our plate.  This year Kelsey was also starting his second rotation in Pediatrics.

Kelsey nicely let's me document the first day of each rotation -
Shiloh I see many many pictures like this in your future!

This year we were so blessed that Kelsey's rotation in Peds has Wednesdays off and even crazier that both our anniversary and birthday celebrations both land on.......yep you guessed it - WEDNESDAY!!!

So first the Anniversary!  For those of you who were celebrating with us three years ago you might have remembered events like.......
Or perhaps.....

And hopefully you made it to the dance floor.....

You may notice that NO ONE is wearing shoes (except for Jason Sink there on the left!)  That's because it MONSOONED on our day of celebration - but no amount of rain could damper the spirits of this crowd - they were AWESOME!

However, fast forward three years, first year KFC anniversary, second year beautiful ocean side hotel anniversary and we are now in Chicago, with a newborn, and an even stricter budget trying to celebrate our third year of wedded bliss.  What is a couple to do?
Usually, because Kelsey is studying for an exam or just in general studying, I have planned our last two anniversaries, and I thought I would be doing the same this year.  I planned to start our day off with a stop at a local french bakery "Cafe Selmarie" that had the absolute best croissants Kelsey and I have had in a long long time!  Kelsey had a ham and cheese one and I did spinach and feta - they were pure heaven!

Then I thought we could head into the city - earlier that week, I saw that the first night of
"Grant Park Music Festival" was Wednesday as well, and here's the best part.......you can bring alcohol!  Ok so maybe that isn't the BEST part - listening to classically trained musician play for free, in a beautiful park, with the two loves of my life - THAT would be the best part.  But being able to bring wine to a concert outdoors, where my daughter can make noise and we won't get kicked out is a pretty close second.  So I packed a picnic full of our favorites (olives, including ones stuffed with blue cheese, felafel, berries, watermelon, carrots, hummus, and of course beer/wine.)

The crazy structure behind us is the amphitheater

Shi with her own special seat!

However, I was pleasantly surprised when Kelsey made plans for us to
go to one of his favorite places that afternoon - The Art Institute of Chicago.

One of the many famous pieces of art we saw

As it turned out lil' miss Shiloh enjoyed the museum as well.  Especially the "Contemporary Art 1900- 1950."  Who knew we had an art critic on our hands, but all through the exhibit she was talking and squawking away at the different pieces.

This one got a lot of vocal response from Shiloh.

It was a wonderful 3rd Anniversary and is a great reminder of why I love my husband so much - he is able to not only take time out of his busy med school schedule to celebrate with us, but to make plans for me made me feel so special and celebrated!  He was sooooooo worth the wait ladies!

For Kelsey's birthday we decided to go more low key and just have a quiet dinner at a little pizza place by our apartment "Spacca Napoli".  We tried to see if we could get our yummy croissants, but when you wake up at 2pm (Kelsey had to do an overnight shift at the hospital) they tend to be out.  So we settle for Starbucks, where Kelsey worked on his powerpoint presentation and Shiloh and I looked at books to buy.  However, we ended the celebration with a wonderful dinner and the day and cooled down and so we were able to eat outside.  We headed home to watch two movies that we got at Redbox and munched on yummy gourmet ice cream sandwiches from Jenice Creams courtesy of Kelsey's sister Brodie.  SO decadent that we only ate half of one of the four sandwiches he got - I think Kelsey is trying to make a good thing last here.

Our next adventure will be moving this weekend....hoping to post pictures of our *new* apartment in the next week or two when all is settled and unpacked.

Until next time......celebrate the ones you love and if you're lucky enough celebrate with them!
