Where did the summer go? Part 1

I had high hopes for my blogging capabilities this summer, thinking at least I could get once a month down and then after the summer I would go more often.  Well, as all things have happened since having a child, I miscalculated and here we are, a blog that hasn't been updated in over two months.

So without further adu, I give you the Budd's in Short:

July:

July always used to be the longest month in the summer for me as a child, I usually got out of school somewhere around the middle to end of June and it seemed like I had the rest of my life to enjoy the summer weather.  And as an adult, working for a non-profit that operated during the school year, July was still a  month that I could leave early and enjoy the nice days of summer!

Fast forward to mommyhood.....what do you do when you have an infant and it's 90+ degrees outside for weeks at a time?  You do photo shoots.....

I'm getting a little too big for the ottoman photos mom!

Teething

In July Kelsey finished with Peds (with an A) and was off to Internal Medicine.  This rotation will be 12 weeks long and by the end of it, Kelsey will be half way through his 3rd year of medical school.  It is so hard to believe that it was a little over two years ago that we started this adventure together and now he is almost to his 4th and final year of medical school.

Fourth of July was pretty different this year.  Why?  Well because we were afforded the wonderful and exciting opportunity to move our entire apartment two floors down to our new apartment in 100+ degrees!!! Don't lie, I can see the jealousy forming already.  Yep that's right Kelsey and I moved our entire apartment between the hours of 10pm - 2am (July 3rd/4th) and the rest 9am - 12pm July 4th.  All in some of the hottest weather I have ever experienced (and remember we lived in Dominica for 16 months!)  Thankfully it was all in the same building so we could let Shiloh sleep while Kelsey and I moved most of the items.

However, moving two floors down did a world of good for our heat issue and poor little Shiloh didn't have to sweat so much with the AC on and a cooler apartment!  Unfortunately there was a small accident that involved an AC falling out of a 4th floor window, cops and our janitor almost having a heart attack (he's fine), but other than that the move went on without a hitch and we are happily settled in our new home for the next year.

After moving, Kelsey, Shiloh and I got dressed and headed to meet our friends for fireworks off of Navy Pier...it was perfect!  We arrived right before they started and were far enough away that the loud noises from the fireworks wouldn't startle Shi.  But before we got there we decided to "treat" ourselves to a dinner for all of the hard work we did in moving that day.

So patriotic Shiloh and I

Daddy's little girl!

Uhm did I mention how amazing the food was?  We walked to our first choice and sadly found out that it was closed due to a fire....as we walked along Irving Park to meet our friends for the fireworks, we contemplated eating fast food (not a choice either of us wanted, but our growling stomachs were voicing their opinions as well).  After deciding to go one more block we came upon Holiday Club!  Such a cute little joint and to top it off our burgers and fries were on the daily special menu for $5 each!!! Seriously!?!?!? So it was with full bellies that we enjoyed the rest of our Day of Freedom and good friends.

The rest of July involved trips to the park, going to church and unpacking our apartment.   For the rest of the Summer Update, stay tuned for "Where did the summer go? Part II"
